An exhibition of works by Hansel and Gretel set and costume designer John Macfarlane opened last Saturday in the Met’s Founders Hall. The show, accompanying the new production of the opera, includes sketches and drawings for the production design as well as recent non Hansel–related works by the internationally acclaimed artist. Camille LaBarre, a Met Managing Director and Chairman of the Patron Program, welcomed more than 170 patrons who had come to the city for the Met’s annual National Patron Weekend. “Macfarlane’s work has the same impact in the gallery that it has on stage,” said Met Director of Archives Robert Tuggle, who organized the exhibition.
