War and Peace Rehearsal Video
Posted by Charles Sheek on 12/06/2007Here is a brief video of one of the four groups of soldiers practicing the parade that opens Scene 8 of the opera. We are soon to find out that marching in the flat rehearsal studio and marching on the stage are two very different things! Remember that when we break into that straight leg step we are marching steeply downhill toward the edge of the stage and looking left.

Charles, where have you been rehearsing? Is it at the Met or a different venue?

Kelly:With the exception of the first auditions all the rehearsals took place in the Metropolitan Opera House. The video was taken on C-Level Stage, on the lowest level of the opera house where there are three rehearsal rooms that are the exact dimensions of the main stage. We also rehearsed in the other two rehearsal spaces, the Orchestra rehersal room and in the Ballet studio. All three rooms are the same size, but each has a different daily use. cs
