I Puritani Transmission Another Stunning Success

Posted by Matt Dobkin on 1/09/2007

The second installment of the Met’s new series of live HD transmissions of performances into movie theaters has been just as enthusiastically received as the first. Anna Netrebko starred in Bellini’s bel canto showcase I Puritani for an audience of 3,800 in the opera house and tens of thousands more around the world. The opera features two intermissions, which were filled with live backstage footage and interviews. Renee Fleming acted as special guest interviewer for the day, and another star soprano, Beverly Sills, was on hand to be interviewed about her own tirumphs in this opera. Met photographer Marty Sohl was on hand to capture the goings-on. Here are some of her photos.
